I've tried the search but there's too much info coming back at me to look thru it all for a specific problem

So If I describe it and someone remembers the details or can offer advice I'd appreciate it

My SP III bought acouple of years ago, kept in house in dry and warm no extremes of temp

Worked fine last week then plugged it in and switched on and base maps were there and worked but detailed maps wouldn't load on swicthing on it gave a "card not accessable" message

I borrowed a card loaded my maps from my PC and tried it

for 5 minutes it said loading data please wait and when it came online all was well

Switched it off and then back on when I was going 10 mins later, only to get the same message as my memory card?

Any Ideas?? I know i's old but I got updated to V8 (as soon as it was available) and it's been a brill bit of kit IF just a bit dated?

Constructive Ideas and suggestions would be appreciated

Not ****!~structive ones like wot ya get on here "Du temps en temps!!"

Well I've ben in touch with Garmin support and they reckon it's a faulty memory card reader and for a fixed charge of £116.32 they will ship me what seems to amount to a "Service exchange" refurbished unit??

So what's the verdict on Here ??

£116.32 For a "refurb unit" with latest internal software

Or One off E bay for £50 with bits and bobs but may do the same thing next week???

Ebay. I have 2 Streetpilot IIIs both from eBay and both working faultlessly. Both came with cables, cards, s/w etc. Registered the units with Garmin and upload firmware upgrades as they come on line. 2 GPSs for £170 (2 years ago) - not a bad price - cheaper now

Cheers

I've had my SPIII since 2002 and it's done that once and it was the card that was faulty. If you know anyone else with a SP3 try your card in their unit.
