Hi,
I have a 1983 R100 and I am regularly stripping the splines on my clutch and gearbox input shaft. Its happened three times after 20,000 miles and now after 10,000. Acompanied by a whining noise for the last 1500 miles before failure. There also seems to be a bit of slop in the transmission somewhere.
Its not the gearbox as I have two and tried them both.
Its not through popping wheelies everywhere either.
I have a few theories, (guesses actually) But I thought I'd throw it out here and see what other folk come up with.
