My starter motor has been getting real noisy recently, so this evening I decided to take it out to take a look. Unfortunately it looks like I have stripped a chunk out of one of the teeth on the pinion. I know a couple of times it has had a recoil/misfire when starting (but surely this should not have led to this?)
My question is, is the pinion available to replace as a separate item since a recon unit is about £110 from motoworks - or does anyone have a starter motor with a dodgy motor that I could transplant for suitable ale vouchers?
