Trying to book accommodation around Chimay for 2 nights over 20-22 September (Next weekend).]

Anyone got any recommendations in the area?

Which hotels have you tried, to save repeats.

How close to Chimay? 5 miles, 15 miles, 30 miles?

How many rooms required ? One, 10?

Apparently the Chimay ‘SuperMoto’ is on?

Several bites are showing vacancies for the dates you want. As is the ‘Golden Golf’ hotel…. Or summat like that.

PS…. ‘Please…..’

Saint-Quentin, is a Town nearby that quite a few use and was always a good place to stop, but I was there earlier this year and wouldn't bother stopping there again, it is getting a bit like a jungle if you get my meaning !

I was using Chimay as a base to do the Ride magazine Ardenne loop. Tried Chimay, Givet, Dinant etc. Could look at Charleville-Mezieres I suppose. Need 3 single rooms and ideally somewhere to park the bikes. Supermoto may well explain why its rammed there.

Hotel de Franc Bois. Converted mill house in village outside town. There was a great village restaurant a short stagger away. The previous owner was a motorcycle enthusiast and he let you use his garage. They also had an apartment in town but this may have been sold separately. Great base for touring the area and the classic races.

The hotels I would recommend in Charlie Mez, Le Pelican, and Sedan St Michel have no rooms according to google maps

Google maps is your best bet to find somewhere as it searches multiple booking sites including going direct.

oh, and 21 Sept is a regional holiday in Wallonia, which explains the popularity

Hôtel De Paris

24 Avenue Georges Corneau, 08000 Charleville-Mézières.
Very secure parking Courtyard in centre of Hotel behind locked Gates

Several gite / Air B&B type places pop up using a Google search for this weekend. I used five people in the search, just to try to ensure separate rooms,

Hotel de Franc Bois.

That popped up when I asked AI for a three single room hotel, near Chimay, for this weekend. Lord knows if AI knows what it’s talking about, by hey.

It’s a very good hotel, which I have stayed in before.

Franc de Bois was full unfortunately.

I’ve booked the Hotel de la Poste in Bouillon at the recommendation of Arsey of this parish. Looks nice but wasn’t cheap!

As for winging it I’m tempted to agree with Wapping. It would have been a monumental PITA trying to do this on the night after a long day riding.

Be sure to get there early evening, as being Autumn, with tourist footfall lower, the restaurants will shut early, they shut at 08:30-9:00pm in the middle of June DAMHIK. It is a sleepy town. Alternative book yourself into a hotel restaurant upon arrival.

It’s an old, characterful and charming hotel. Complete with creaking doors and floorboards. But it does everything well and what you need.

A lot of smaller privatehotels often close their doors in late September for a couple of weeks, for their own holidays and / or a bit of renovation. Winging it, is (usually) fine solo but more of a trial if you want three separate single rooms at short notice.

Enjoy your holiday.
