Got my new stubby exhaust form Pipey the other day and just fitted it.

Looks great, sounds definitely a little louder, but the main difference is it's a deeper sounding tone.

No reason for the police to be interested in the slightest, A friend of mine has one very similar fitted to his 1150. The Catalytic converter is the primary sound remover on this system.. with the muffler doing very little.

A bit like the Remus kit. If you have the collector the noise is not too bad. In fact the collector is the part that is stamped. If you run the standard can on and then try it off you worn't notice a world of difference unlike a link pipe.

Hmm. Very interesting. I just happened to have a Micron linkpipe that has a diameter about 50mm. It´s a bit longer than the on in pictures above but I´ll give it a try.

Would be nice to get some trumpet shape in the end of that pipe. I wonder how can it be done. Pipe is stainless steel.

Nope - but then I've had Buells with open Remus pipes and never been pulled.

But as per others' posts, it's not to much louder than having the stock silencer fitted - juts a nicer deeper tone.

Saves 6Kgs in weight and allows a full size left pannier as well.

Hahaha! Yeah, I know - I was thinking about this the other day, but my commute it literally a straight shoot for nearly 25 miles each way - I need to take the scenic route more often to avoid my usual squared off tyres!

So, lived with it or a couple of weeks...

Loving the sound - definitely a deeper tone than stock which perhaps makes it soudn a bit louder, but not much. Looks nice, but the total lack of exhaust pipe looks odd to me.

I have a second-hand Carbon Can Co. exhaust and y-piece coming in the post (£150, so couldn't really pass it up) so I'm going to fit them this weekend and see which set-up I prefer.

I shall report back.

I found me a decent priced Micron MotoGP can from a GSX1000R suzuki and thought about installing it to my Beemer. It´s E approved so still able to remove the cat off.

I clearly have too many ideas now about the bike. Someone should tell me to slow down. Luckily my wife doesn´t so I quess no one does.

Micron idea gone dead. Left side can went straight towards wheelspokes. Sad thing since it looked very good.

So fitted me a stubby too. Sounds nice. Looks weird. Not done any testdrive yet since I took a few Irelands finest while installing it.

I like the look of that, shame I didn't try one prior to fitting an Akrap can.

I might have one knocked up, stuff like that is cheap over here.

Anybody know if the stubby is louder than an Akrap? The Akrap has a deeper growl but not much louder decibel wise. I set off a bunch of car alarms riding out of my compound which the OE can didn't do. I like the fact that it frees up space on that side too.

I'll be looking at getting a Y piece too at some point.

No. The stubby is really no louder than a standard exhaust, but has a slightly deeper tone. The only advantage of the stubby is the weight saving and the ability to have a full size pannier on the nearside.

I'd have to say I do find it a bit louder, but no, not as loud as an Akrapovic - the main difference is the deeper growly tone - perhaps it sounding more 'basey' makes it seem louder

Slightly off topic but did you fit the CCC y piece? Thoughts? I'm considering it as an addition to the Akrap, just don't want to mess up the fueling. Do all Y Pieces have a lambda sensor...if not I can have one knocked up locally?

The collector box really acts as the muffler - does most of the silencing which is why with any silencer, it's still pretty quiet. If you want noise, you need a y-piece.

I did fit the CCC y-piece but it's outlet is a slightly larger diameter than the outlet on the collector box or most other y-pieces, meaning that it only fits with the CCC can

Otherwise, yeah pretty much all y-pieces I've seen have the hole for the sensor. And don't worry about the fuelling - they work just fine without any messing about
