Hi
I have a 2003 1150gs currently running with a stubby pipe and the cat in place
Only been running like this for a week or so but am very pleased with the sound loss of weight
not enough time to see if its made a difference with mpg or performance

was wondering where I stand if i get pulled by the plods and they look at my pipe and say "what the F**K is that ?"

Is it quite legal to have this stubby pipe on instaed of the original silencer?

Never had any problems with mine at MOT time, never even been mentioned.

I don't think it is noisy enough to offend anyone.

You won't have a problem, I believe the cat is e-marked anyway.... they're not going to bother stopping an old knacker on an old knacker anyway :D

PS Welcome to the site :beerjug::beerjug:

PS.. reckon I've got 10 years on you anyway

cats E marked,
but doesnt matter anyway for an mot..
no markings needed
exhaust must sound same (or similar) to a bike the same (or similar )of a similar age with the standard exaust,
(that what the tester manual says but in plainer english)
a stubby isnt much noisier,,,so its usually ok,
the plod COULD still be funny about it and try doing you, but i dunno how you would go about disproving what they say,

i was told if the can (sorry, stubby!) does not have 'not for road use' or the like stamped on it, then it can be quite difficult to not pass the exhaust on volume alone (try a two stroke in a test centre) - he will only think about it if his ears are bleeding whilst doing the brake test etc ha ha

They dont do sound level tests with measuring equipment. Not even emissions (unless the government coallition decide to ban all two strokes!

You'll be fine, mine was. :comfort

PS
The only time mine sounds loud is at 70... :augie

Hi All
Had mine stubby on for the last few years, all around Scandinavia as well. Even when I got stopped for speeding up there :augie the plod had a good look round and nothing said, mind you the MOT chap asked where the rest of the exhaust was, told him keeping the shed door open, his reply 'As long as you know where it is.' :thumb

So enjoy!!! :green gri
