Bryn, I'll take one please, I'll be glad to try the cat back on, the bloody exhaust is melting the indicator at the moment so the stubby should do the trick , can you let me know how to get the payment to you......:)

PM'd you ;)

Going off the shitty state of my bike I'm thinking of not polishing my stubby.

Is this wise or should I go outside and give myself a stern talking to ???

:D

Polished mine.. 10 miles later it looked shitty... could have been the rain :)

Leave it as it is... its had a rub down with brasso and a session on the polishing wheel before I posted it :beerjug:

Got mine this morning Bryn.....:thumb

Decided that your stubby will be used with panniers on and the Straight Line Racing stubby will be used without panniers....:D

Cheers mate

The posty made me smile today......

.....and she also brought a package containing my stubby as well....cheers and thank you Bryn for the prompt and efficient service.

......but what's with all these recommendations to polish it?.....it's in better nick than me bike already!!!!

My only comment......it does takes a lot of clamping down to get it to firmly grip the outlet stub from the Cat......maybe with future batches's of Stubby's try and use a 1mm smaller smaller diameter stainless pipe....or maybe thinner guage pipe.....that thing is made of thick and tough S/S....long after the BM has rotten away that sucker will be going strong!....it's quality kit.

....or maybe I just got a skinny European outlet pipe....mine measures 44.5mm diameter....(oooooeeerrr missus!)

Tommorrow I am going to make up a thin aluminium packing sleeve so the clamp does not need so much torquing up to clamp it on tight....then it'll be baaaaarrrrrooooommmmba! (and without melted panniers I hope!)

PS:....for sale, one low mileage Remus S/S 'Y' piece....one careful owner, only used for church on a Sunday....never thrashed (oh! bugger...me nose just got longer!).....contact me if interested.

.

Glad it arrived ok.. as you said its a bit of heavy duty stainless, and because of this it does take a bit of torqueing down on the clamp to get it to bend enough to grip...

I've been to see the man who fabricates them today and asked him to make the tolerences as small as possible... the idea of a bit of aluminium as a packing sleeve is a good one... the first one I had made I used a bit of stickyback aluminium foil to stick on the end of the cat pipe.. it only took one thin layer, and it did the trick.

Another idea would be a bit of exhaust sealing paste...;) I'd think you're only talking a mm or so..

Post a picture when you've got it fitted :thumb

Ally foil tape

Bryn,

Back in the old days....when me and the missus had 'real' jobs before we decided to jump ship and leave the 'rat race' for those who could run faster/wanted to run faster than us.......I used to work somewhere where I could 'borrow' ally foil tape plus lot's of other useful bits, bobs and widgets.

.....now, working for ourselves we even have to buy our own biros, sticky tape and other sundry stationery.....(never under estimate those 'invisible' perks again guy's!)....so exotica like sticky backed ally foil is right out of the question......I'll be in my shed tommrrow with my snips and some ally roof flashing knocking up that sleeve PDQ!

.....when I get it sorted I'll post a piccy

Safe riding

Shitman,

All future orders are going to have a small strip of sticky back aluminium sheet enclosed.... That'll sort out the "Improvisationally Challenged" amongst the customers :D

If anyone who's already recieved their stubby would benefit from a strip of the said aluminium sheet let me know;)
