on an 54 1150rt t/spark
do not , ride your bike in the rain/snow and salt , get home and ignore it for 3 weeks .
go to use it , and the starter spins but doesn't engage .
you can't start it to get it on your bench , ( no spare bodies to help push the red elephant on to it ) so you have to take it apart on the floor outside , ( at least it isn't raining ) well it wasn't when i started !
rust on the shaft that the gear spins and slides on , stopping it from moving .
you would have thought it was well protected , where it lives , but a few bits of salt in the hole !
