Flying there but hire car if needed…somewhere interesting and ‘pretty’ suitable for two adults and two toddlers, great hotel too.
Cost not prohibitive.

I’m used to northern Germany but never been to Bavaria or southern Germany hence asking on here.

=======

Moved as the stunning location moved to Sarajevo. See post #21

Are you looking for:

A. A stunning airport

B. A stunning town / city

C. A stunning hotel

D. Some combination of the three

E. Your trousers

My trousers are always stunning!
Thinking of Munich airport as easier to get to from London (not been so unsure if stunning or not).
So B and C, stunning hotel and stunning city/town…
:DD

Fly to Munich.

Catch the train into Munich.

Stay in Munich.

Lots of hotels to chose from.

Drop toddlers off at the beer fest and rest.

You haven’t said for how long?

Sorted.
Looking for the ‘stunning’ bits of Southern Germany/Bavaria.
I’ve been tasked with the planning for this jolly. Just me and the wife then simple but it’s me, daughter and two grandkids so a bierkeller, war museum and ww2 jollies might not work, hence the need for pretty and stunning.

one of my party flew from Stansted to Memmingen in Western Bavaria to join our tour as she was restricted on days left on her Schengen visa as a S.African

we stayed in Obernai on the way down and she was collected on our way to a Bavarian Alps base in Kempten. We then moved to Bregenz and she was dropped off as we travelled up to Freudenberg (where Doc stayed recently)

If you are hiring a car then you will probably find a suitable family resort on the nearby Lake Constance, an hour by car. German Legoland to the north, also an hour away.

Berchtesgaden area

If it was good enough for Hitler & the 3rd Reich as their summer playground

It’ll be great for you all🤩

Basel in that there Switzerland is close enough to both the French and German borders to be in the frame? For Germany, you're close the Black forest, Lake Constance etc and for France, Strasbourg and the Jura are not too far away..

I'm sure that it's not that hard to find a private field in which to land your HA-420...
