OK,

Heres number 2.

Task : 1150GSA Replace/fault find Main Beam bulb replacement/not working.

Removed all the front ..screens, plates etc. Removed the Two screws on either side of the headlight mounting expecting to find the bulbs access from the front of the unit - not so?

Are the bulbs accessed from the Rear ? i.e from the handlebar side? I spoke to an auto parts store this morning and he informed me that it would be a sealed unit ? and I would have to get a whole new unit from BMW...just for a bulb change ? (This is Swiss Land...and I think they will tell me anything to make me go away...)

...but I can find H1 bulbs in Motobins ? What gives ?

Yes F2L
The bulbs can be accessed from the handlebar side.
If you look just below the instrument cluster you can see the back of the dip beam on the left, and just a bit further under the cluster to the right will be the main (high) beam.

If you are carefull you can change bulbs without removing the light unit, but please take care, as it is easy to break the plastic parts if you need to remove the complete light unit.

Where the wires go into the lights. Give that a twist and you'll see the bulb in the light.

Thanks to all.

Yep, the item that I was missing was un-hooking the ball joint.

Bulb is out - replacement found - to be put back together this evening.

Great site - Give yourselves a pat on the back!

Cheers
