Got home last night about 7, chained bike up to lamppost outside.

About 8-30, knock on the door - complete stranger says "mate, is that your bike?.......You've left the keys in!"  :o :o

Bike not stolen in saaf London, faith in human nature restored.... :o

Truth being not even my bike - that's still being repaired........

Top marks to the honest soul who knocked on my door :bow :bow :bow

Done the same thing a few times myself and got away with it. Most people are honest. From what the police say, most thieveing is done by a small number of active tea leaves.

Mind you, maybe they didnt want the lamp post! Or was the bike a Suzuki ;)

Heh, I did that at work a few weeks back - however I work in a former farm-building... so nobody walks past the bike... :P

Glad your bike is OK! :)

The 1150 guys are gonna love this...... :mmmm

Naaaa......far to easy Chris, and as it was a 1200 rider who's kindly pointed out that they ain't likely to get nicked, we'll leave it like that with nowt said shall we?? :D :D :dabone

Bit of a result there Marcus......we've all done it before. ;)

Not just Saaarf London. Once left ca rparked on Caledonian road, close to Kings Cross, not just unlocked but with door wide open (I was distracted as I arrived at work). After ten minutes, a scary looking guy who I might otherwise have crossed the road to avoid - 6 foot 5, dreadlocks, trendy "gangsta" clothes - came to reception clutching my laptop, wallet, car keys and fags and said I'd left my car open and if I wasn't careful, someone might be tempted by my stuff on show.

I was completely speechless (as well as furious with myself for being so stupid). I counted the money in my wallet, fags in my packet, hard drives in my PC about 20 times before reaching the conclusion that he hadn't helped himself to a "reward." He refused to accept any offer of a reward, and disappeared back into the dodgy-looking throng passing by.

Really does help you appreciate that not everyone is out to get you!

Robin.
