I want to run a DVD loop on a screen in the shop window. But there are a few talking heads so really does need subtitles which the original DVD doesn't have.

Does anyone know of an app than can create subtitles as the video plays. It's currently on DVD but could be moved to a folder.

Yes I do have the rights to use it.

Most video players will play video and interlace subtitles from a text file. You could also use something like virtuadub or Handbrake with the same text file but burn the subtitles into the video.
I take it this is a private video so no hope of there already being subtitles avaliable on the Internet?

Windows movie maker (or whatever the latest version is called) which comes free with a windows install...that will do it.

It will also do a lot more.....just look it up on You tube, watch a few videos and you'll be pleasantly surprised :thumb2

Otherwise, there are hundreds of FREEWARE progs out there that will do it.......do a Googly on it :)

I think you could even use You Tube itself depending on the size of the video...ISTR seeing they now have a captioning service, so upload the video, edit it, download it.

If all else fails, send me a copy of the DVD and a script with what you'd like putting on and I'll do it......50 quid donation to Bakerman's charity :beerjug:

Thanks folks. I'll look into that lot. Fanum, you never know I might take you up on that offer. :-)

I'm waiting for a new enhanced DBS check to be cleared for a new job, so apart from walking the dog and talking bollocks here, I've got fekk all else on ;)

Windows Movie Maker is a free Microsoft download. Adding captions and credits etc is very easy ( I can do it, so It must be very easy).
