Just spent a cold but successful evening of Cymarc mods and getting ready for the real weather. Easy to fit even for my fat fingers. Tomorrow night is Barkbusters, wash with SDoc100 and then ACF50. Have done 400 miles in last week with a smile like a Cheshire Cat. Loving my GS.

Top tip. Before you wash it, take the tat off so you can get in there, clean it properly and apply the corrosion inhibitor before refitting it.

Also , when fitting the crud front guard make sure the spacers are good as I had one where the spacers were hacked to size , so threw it in the bin as it damaged all my paint.
Bit of a waste of money but went for the fender extender instead

Thanks and it was bathed in ACF50 the day I got it. Spent my first day stripping the bike down to do it. Will do the same over the weekend once its been cleaned.

Tanneman you not a fan of crud catchers etc?

No, I just call it tat. Went the fender extender way but I think the crud catcher will be better. But to clean the bike it just adds another thing to take off for a proper clean. Six and half a dozen.

Have to agree on the pain in the arse bit. I can't really argue as they were a present from SWMBO. That and the 600 mile service on Friday
Safe riding

Agree you can't clean behind it very well but i did 28,000 miles on my last GS and although i had the Avant front fender extender, there were a hell of a lot of chips in the crud catcher, so it does the job well :beerjug:

When going down gravel tracks or freshly chipped roads i could hear the stones pining off the crud catcher. I used to remove it now and again to clean behind it and the engine always cleaned up great.

I put the unpainted stainless one on my new bike the other week, not sure how the black finish will stand up to the stone chips?
