Hi,

had a couple of occasions where at high speed (140 kmh, 90 mph) all of a sudden the gearbox jumps back into 5th gear. Ususally it will stay in 6th gear for about 10 seconds and then all of a sudden switches to 5th.This makes the rear wheel slide which is pretty scary at that speed. I have had the same problem, though less concerning, with 2nd gear to neutral.

Anyone had the same problem and knows what to do about it?

Tnx

Try getting the gearbox oil changed? Service schedule is every 12K (I think). Had it done on my 1150 and sure enough no more slipping back into 5th.

I had the 20K (kms) or 12k (mls) service done about three weeks ago, so I presume that cannot be the problem.

Is it the 1150 / GSA? There were a batch of them recalled for this reason. See your dealer.

it has happened to me as well but even with newish oil, it seems its totally random.

Yup - if the change is rushed, I think they all do that. Change into 6th has to be very deliberate.

My bike does it occasionally if I'm trecking on a bit. For this reason, I tend not to change to top if I've got the bike leaning over. It's never stuck in for 10 seconds though, if it's going to jump back into 5th it'll do it in less than 5 I guess.

Like rooster says, being very positive with the change normally ensures that it doesn't happen..... on my bike anyway!
