Dear All

Am staying in Harrogate over the bank holiday weekend, and fancy a good ride around the Yorkshire Dales on bank holiday monday.:clap

It's old stomping ground for me on sports bikes from my former years living up in God's country :D, so fancy a more interesting route or two on the GS to enjoy some fun filled hours eating up some miles (but no off road due to having only road tyres):tears

Any suggestions would be gratefully received & I can put into the GPS.

Cheers:beerjug:

I've not checked Adam's routes but one road, not to be missed, is Buttertubs Pass. It leads from Hawes to Swaledale & gives the option of then going East towards Leyburn & more excellent roads.

Bank holiday monday in the dales/moors is going to be fab, as long as the sun shines:JB

If you are not doing anything on the Tuesday 1st June and want a ride out to meet the Boundary bikes I live in Ripon and me and a mate are going for a ride that evening.

Thanks for the kind offer. However, I'll be heading back to Kent the morning of the 1st June.

Enjoy your evening ride :thumb2

Go to Hawes turn up by the Wendsleydale creamery road then follow the signs to Kettlewell not a fast road single track partly but amazing views, couple of pubs before the end.Enjoy.

Passed through Hawes yesterday on-route to Devils Bridge and saw the Police had closed the road to Ribblesdale. Got home and had a search around on the net and found this

It seems the biggest threat we all face on a sunny Sunday ride is each other..............

Did some of Adam's suggested Bowland route yesterday as a change from the usual A65 to Devils Bridge - excellent :thumb2

Did a lakes tour and came back past DB - fecking hell:eek: I've never seen it so busy (and not just power-rangers :augie). There was all sorts of crap lying around on the morning so God knows what it was like this morning :nenau

A bit of :Motomartin and everybody flocks to water

Yeah I tend to avoid all the major meet places and their immediate area from the tail end of April until October. There's plenty of small cafes around the Dales that see very little biker custom but are off the highly policed (justifiably so as Nick pointed out) roads, and lets face it on these bikes the back roads arent exactly a chore. :D

Too true :( A lad I know from the VFR Club/Bikers Snug forums is a North Yorks traffic officer and siad they had four fatalities in three accidents on Sunday and he attended two of them - poor riding was once again to blame on first impressions...

Went out Monday for my 1st ride on the GS.

Ripon to Pateley Bridge, Grassington, Hetton, Airton, Settle (coffee), Ingleton, right upto Ribblehead viaduct, onto Hawes, Left up the A684 to Garsdale Head, Kirkby Stephen (lunch), Tan Hill, Reeth, Leyburn, Masham and home. 130 miles - storming day out in the sunshine.
