I have just moved to Glasgow from Belfast and I am looking for a nice loop to do on Sunday morning. I intend getting up quite early and heading off to look for somewhere to have a bit of breakfast and then back to Glasgow by lunchtime.

Can anyone suggest a nice run to do?

Thanks

Gareth

If you are new to the area...got to be Loch Lomondside, Crianlarich, Dalmally, Inverary, Tarbet and home....or variations of. Watch out for the rozzers in the obvious places..if the weathers good there will be lots of others doing much the same.....some stupid, hence the rozzers! Don't be fooled into stopping at The Green Welly(Tyndrum)....much better grub opposite in the Real Food Cafe.

If you ARE new to the area....you have a great summer exploring new delights before you!!

New?

I lived in Glasgow 1990, 1991 and had a Yamaha RS125, I did quite of bit of touring about. However, it is all a bit of a blur now.

I have moved to Glasgow a few weeks ago and currently living in Bearsden. So heading North is a good option. I did head up to Tyndrum a couple of weeks ago and i am afraid i did stop at the Green Welly, it was the weekend of the Ducati open day, so it was pretty busy. I was not impressed with the nosh in the GW, so another option is good.

I am looking forward to a summer of exploring. Hopefully some evening runs out would be good as well.

Thanks for the info.

Gareth

+1 :thumby: for this route, road from Dalmally to Tyndrum one of the best biking roads, fast and sweeping.

+1:thumb for the Real food Cafe...at least you can get a parking space at the Real food Cafe.....

Like Gerry...thats a fab run...

Green Welly used to be decent but it's all gift shop now. Real food is better option but cramped and they put milk in hot water and throw in a tea bag on a string. I hate that. I want burly women with big jugs pouring tea into mugs! Proper cafe!

In that case forget everything I said and go to the transport caff at Balinluig!!

The "real food stop" is probably the most overrated, overpriced very average chip shop I have ever had the misfortune to visit. If you have to eat in Tyndrum go to the GW and have the Cullen Skink it’s about 4 quid and is good value.
Ballinluig tuckers café use to be really good but the prices have gone up about 25% and I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore, but it’s convenient for me and I still use it, for now.:nenau
Hi Richard, good to see you posting again :beerjug:

At least you then know what your getting.

Lix Toll for fuel, cheaper then the GW.
Always go to the Real Food, far better grub.

Got out at last

I did not get out last Sunday, but took a spin out today on the route suggested. Well almost. I missed the turn for Inverary and ended up going to Oban and then headed on round to lochgilphead. Really nice run out. I got away just after 11 and the road as far as Tyndrum was busy. But after that it was not too bad at all.

Lots more exploring to do!

Did that loop yesterday up threw glencoe and Oban etc back too boat. Awesome :thumb2
