One of the rocker covers on my recently acquired ex-BMW Off Road Skills bike is pretty scuffed up and I want to re-paint it, can anyone recommend a suitable paint?
It has the latest DOHC heads so the rocker covers are a kind of bronze colour, I was thinking of trying to spray it with smooth Hammerite, they do it in gold or I could do both sides in silver.

With Hammerite you are going to be very limited to the choice of colours. You may be better off, if you want a closer match to the original, visiting a decent model shop and seeing what is available in the Humbrol Enamel range of aerosol cans.

Personally, I'd just go for the Hammerite silver, do both valve covers and know that any future damage can easily be restored.

The rocker covers were surprisingly, a reasonably priced part, around £100 ish and it is worth making the bike as good as new by fitting a new cover.

this is why the ORS team dont have protectors on the cover, it is more expensive to replace the protectors than the covers and as they were never going to be in a situation where they were stuck in middle of nowhere....

Thanks chaps. I think a new right hand side one is £130, I agree not that dear in the scheme of things. I've managed to source a second hand one which sounds in better condition than mine so I'll try that.
