Summer in the Alps

As Kamikaze has said we'd a fair mix of temperatures throughout the trip but it was (almost) always dry - it rained heavily during the ferry crossing but once we got to Roscoff it stopped & the roads dried rapidly. Then on the way back we had torrential rain for the last 60+ km into Cherbourg and again north of Wexford on the run home

But the rest of the time it was mainly warm & always sunny. The low lying places were generally 20 - 27 while in the mountains it was usually 10 - 20 with the exception of the Furka Pass where we dropped to 0

First two were taken in July past when visiting number two son.

From this in July in the mid 30s

granted there's always a bit of snow .....

Had just spent a great nites craic with 4 German blokes in Andermatt showing

them how to drink..............

Yeah, Austrian.
We were pulled in and charged €35 each for overtaking a car where the dual carriageway / motorway ended and two lanes merged.
I was at the back and got away with that.
Then they noticed we had no vignettes. That cost us all €65 each.
20 minutes later and Padge was called aside again, coming out of a village. His Irish charm got him out of that one, though.

Two stops in 20 minutes did dampen our enthusiasm a little bit , if only in towns and on main roads.

Still, a great trip.

Nope.... the weather has been crap this year, we had approx 1 month of decent normal summer and then the rest has been broken days of cloud/sun followed by days of rain etc.

i would bring your rain gear and somthing warm you can throw on.

At the moment its not bad, just cloudy in day and pissing down in the evening.

nice and sunny today - about 24C and thats in basel - zurich is similar.

The Feds in Austria are notorious for speed traps and fines. I have been there many times and on every trip at least 1 or more riders were fined for various infringements.The most irritating one was about 10km from the border on a minor road we drove past 2 cones marking a pothole at the edge of the road. Apparently this constituted "roadworks" and a reduced speed limit, even though there were no signs to that effect. Plod duly relieved everyone of €35 payable in any currency of your choice.
Miserable b****rds, it went on my list of places to avoid some years ago and Slovenia and the Dolomites now get my tourist cash.
