Well it looks like summer has arrived in the Dales, finally

Cloudless blue sky and temps in the mid 20c and as usual, I decided to take the roads less travelled and in reality saw no other vehicles, despite the 'honeypot' roads being chokka

First of all I went over to Snape, to have a look at a Hare & Hounds enduro and Thorpe Perrow

Snape, is beautiful village and boasts its own castle, still inhabited

After watching a few razzing 2 smokers, I headed off to Leyburn, via Middleham for some fuel and then after ensly, i took the moor road over the gallops to Carlton and thus onwards to Coverdale

Descending Park Rash into Kettlewell............ it was heaving, so stopped a wee while to watch the world go by

Littondale is my favourite of the Dales and I wanted to go to Arncliffe, to leapfrog over to Malham Tarn area, sans traffic

Some gorgeous views of Littondale, with the buttercup meadows carpeting the valley floor

After the Tar, I dropped into Malham (busy) so headed to Kirby Malham and took the backroad to Settle, which afforded me some great long distance views of Malham Cove, but far from the madding crowd

Once in Settle I bimbled back up to Hawes, via Horton and Ribblehead and took the long way home via Redmire to Wensley

A great 120 mile ride:thumby:

Cracking pictures, nice roads, we always avoid the 'honey traps' but you clearly know the roads a tad better than us poor relatives from darn in South Yarkshiresville . Like the buttercup meadow shots.

Brilliant pictures as always JB . My Brother is back in the Dales and I'm only in Leyburn. We'd love to join you for an hour or two. Shot me a PM if you fancy some company.

Thanks - there are some stunning smaller roads over the tops that are completely unused by other Sunday traffic (odd farm Landie or Quad) & these are great - even found a new one yesterday

Conversely whilst eating my lunch in Kettlewell - the B road through the village was chokka with bike after bike and loads of cars

I never saw another another vehicle on the majority of my route

Love the Dales, not the traffic

Will do, I'm south of Masham and it would be good to meet up again

No pheasants this time :)

nightmare!
if you have a GPS route file of your little ride I would appreciate a copy If you have one JB?

need to get over to the dales a bit more often I think

Sorry, no GPS file.................I just use my head to pick and choose a route and a map on my tank

Nice one JB,a new road found too, nothing finer than picking up a new road and having an explore. I have been up the Dales on roads less travelled for years and never tire of the place in all its seasons. :thumby:

very pretty JB beautiful pics plus the bike looks a stunner!

Just had 4 days in Wales. First time I've ever been. Discovered some fantastic roads, and hardly another vehicle in sight. Came home Saturday, very quite until I hit the M56

Took my new GS up to the Dales this last weekend. Loved the road from Halton Gill over to Stainforth. Views of Pen-y-Ghent were stunning.

Exactly my sort of Ride.
I know the areas fairly well but never been to the villages you pointed out.
They are on my "to do" list for a visit very soon.
Your photos are great.
Thank you for sharing.
