Summer trousers

Any recommendations for summer trousers. They will be for touring hot countries so airy mesh types please - no kevlar type jeans thanks.
It's so difficult to remember what riding in the heat is like !!

Why the aversion to Kevlar jeans? I ride 70% of the year in them and love them ( throwing waterproofs over for the wind and rain when required - More comfortable than regular textile) And after having a slide down the road in Textiles and seeing how quickly they melted...... my faith is in the kevlar than in a textile suit......

I have had a pair of Draggin jeans - They were hot, heavy, uncomfortable and looked hidious on me. It was a long time ago and possibly they are a better product these days - perhaps i'll look again.

36 long i'm afraid - but thanks anyway.

I usually tour in a pair of light leather jeans with a pair of shorts in the tank bag to change into on arrival before putting the tent up. Day trips are usually done with normal jeans (pottering). I thought if I could find a pair of light but protective trousers, with good venting I could kill 2 birds with one stone. They do not need to be waterproof - coolness is the main criteria.

Hood trousers are great-but ARE Kevlar. Very comfy in hot weather.

+1 on the Hood jeans but I hacked about 9" of kevlar off the lining when it got to 42C in SE Turkey and all was good again

Also had 15" zips put into the inside seams at the bottom of the legs - makes putting boots on much easier

+1 for the BMW city trousers.

Also very good are BMW Summer trousers, which have all the armour but have zip off legs for those extended lunch breaks!

I shall have a look at the BMW stuff - fancy the zip off trousers.
Which dealer in the midlands carries a decent stock of clothing - I went to Astles in Grimsby to look for some trousers and they carried very little stock for trying on. I would like to try, for fit, before I buy.

If you are dead set of something that is ultra light and suitable for sub tropical use, you could do a lot worse than the BMW airflow suit (although it is a bit expensive IMHO given that it doesn't have any of the clever tech stuff that the rest of the range does).

Wow sounds amazing, but I haven't got that kind of money at the moment.
Summer trousers are looking favourite - ride to destination unzip into shorts and go for a walk around an historic town or into the moutains. I have been doing this for many years using a pair of canvas/cotton french camping trousers but they are completely worn out and the safety issue has always been a worry.
I shall pop into Roy Piddock at the w/e as I'm in the area.

When My daughter and I went around Europe last July for a month, we both wore Mesh Jackets and trousers (mixture of Alpinestars and Buffalo brands between £45 and £90 per item) for the whole trip. Absolutely great in the hot weather and very comfortable. We wore Merino wool t-Shirst under the jackets. If we were going to be wondering around somewhere that day then I wore a lightweight pair of combat trousers underneath the mesh trousers and just removed the mesh trousers for the stop.

For wet weather, or to stop windchill (which we hardly encountered) we had Aldi/Lidl lightweight waterproof overjackets (about £12 each) and Berghaus Deluge Overtrousers with 3/4 length side zips (Special offer £22 each from Go Outdoors).

I have BMW summer trousers and Dragin Combat trousers and I find them each great for the UK but they would not have been anywhere near as comfortable in the hotter climate. Mesh is the way to go, gloves as well

Klim kit is really good - their Dakar trousers have long zipped vents and elastic/mesh sections. Comes in a 36 long fitting too.

Expensive but well made stuff.

I ride in the tropics. I wear a RallyePro Jacket and RS Taichi Pants, both textiles. Of course I remove the goretex liners and have a rain coat to wear over in the monsoon rains.

On the move, heat is never an issue as the vents are sufficient. Its only when caught in traffic jams or stopping.

So list protection first and comfort a close second with anemphasis on keeping dry over getting a little warm. Anyway one can always open up that huge vent in the front called the main zipper.

60% of bodyheat is lost through the head so thats where I'll focus. ARAI does a fine job sticking to the priorities listed above.
