Sun, Sea, and Ski - sod it Ill do all 3 :)

So this is the frontage of the famous cafe, still staffed by a remarkable Lady who has became a great friend of the Army over the years, she makes bloody good coffee too

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=P1010096.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/P1010096.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Love this pic, The Sgt is shouting "right lads lets get ashore and take these jerrys out", the lads in the background are saying "shit these roads look good in France, lets get this bike ashore without any hydraulic lock " :)

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1665.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1665.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A few sombre moments at a landing beach, I wonder what the liberators of Europe (and thus the UK) would make of society now, too many scrotes living on the back of others hard work and spineless wankers like the ECHR protecting shitbags with your tax dollar maybe :(

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=P1010098.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/P1010098.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Onto the lovely Hohnfleur for a pre ferry get rid of your euros lunch. Lovely place and Im still blessed with epic weather

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=P1010113.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/P1010113.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And onto the ferry via the steepest ramp Ive ever seen, some poor sod on a F800 dropped it whilst going up, still the LeHavre crossing was comfy and cheap. Landed in UK to a fuel shortage apparantly because some retard told people to stock up thus creating a problem. MPs Eh, fucking clowns :bounce1

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=P1010115.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/P1010115.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And thats it, 11 days, 2400 miles, loads of epic roads, great skiing and amazing weather, spawny twat :clap

Very evocative stuff this. I was there with a good friend in 1994 for the 50th anniversary of the D day landings. My mate was ex Guards Para Regiment. It was one of our last bike trips together as he was killed soon after by an Asian lady in a Fiesta who "didn't see him". Not particularly relevant that she was Asian just that as a group they seem less aware of bikes than some others.
Anyway, I was sitting outside the cafe reading my Sunday Times when this old guy asked me where I got it. I gave it to him and said I'd get another. To my shame I didn't realise who he was until he shook my hand and said he was John Howard and asked if I wanted a signed card!

Thats amazing Dave, a few years ago I had the spamming/priv of commanding a small detachment unit over there for celebrations and commemoration. The Gondree staff remembered me from that trip so it was great to have a chin wag about the bridge, para Reg, GPRA etc etc.

Great people and a lovely spot too. The feat of aviation by the GPR to land there at night with no NVG and then get out and fight is one of immense bravery and skill, we all thought we were cutting edge but we have had that advantages of great kit, NVG etc etc, oh and engines :)

John Howard introduced me to Madame Gondree and she insisted on paying me for the newspaper!

You can only begin to imagine what it must have been like flying/aiming! those gliders to the landing zone. I believe some of the arrivals weren't that comfortable

Superb trip :thumb Get a few guys going skiing here with skis on the back of their bikes. Nothing as big as a 1200ADV though :D
I'm thinking of going to Normandy for a few days after Le Mans. Normally head back down to the Alps, but decided on Normandy this year.:thumb

Just a random question for you, was that Pas De La Casa you stopped at for skiing? the picture you took of the roads and of the few buildings you see in it looks familiar to me.

After reading this you have put me in the mood for trip a like that as I've been to pas de la casa twice for skiing so would love to do what you have done and visit normandy on my way home.

Thank you for posting this report up! :thumb2

Cheers Cuz makes my blast up to Skye look shite :blast Next time give me a shout! Fantastic idea and executed with military precision, obviously Army precision as I didnt see a trailer to fit RAF Samsonite luggage in :D
I am off to Germany first week in June, you up for it ?

Bump so the lads from yesterday can see this trip.

Oh and v rude of me, Jonny I stayed at Soldeu but skied all over really, the main road on pic is looking from soldeu slopes east towards France :)

Im headed down again in March if anyone fancies it, prob not ski or may cram in one day if snow any good, will blatt thru france in a day then head thru alps again to same hotel, rest 2 days then head back:)

What dates in March are you thinking of?

Gareth

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1543.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1543.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

So southwards towards the Alps, a pitstop at Chamonix Mont Blanc, wierd being there on a bike sat with skiers !

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1561.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1561.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Onwards through some great passes which I have on the Drift camera, Ill put them on when I get a chance, through the lovely village of Valoire which sadly had the southern entrance pass shut :(

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1568.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1568.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Unfortunately this meant a backtrack and going through the Frejus Tunnel, impressive engineering but;

A. Fucking Hot (+32)

B. Fucking expensive :(

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1571.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1571.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/?action=view&current=IMG_1578.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee182/FayeDeck/Andorra/IMG_1578.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

nothing personal but why o why do brits stick there bikes in hotel receptions....:nenau

can understand it if the hotel insisted due to a high crime level/bad area, then fair do,s i would too...:blast

great trip though and looked good fun, mant thanks.........:beerjug:

TBH mate it was offered by a rather fit girl on reception so I thought it rude to not comply with her request, sadly this included telling me to piss off when I asked her to "service my room" at 0800 :(
