bah - I can't make this one. Though I did take the missus and the little one up to Glen Cafe over the BH wkd [1]. Oh, and that B709 road is a mess (the early bit specially), quality wise. The B711 or A709 are smoother.

Just watch out for the loose cattle though, they're a bit tougher than those silly sheep. :eek

If you do come a cropper, you'll be able to pull in at the Buddhist place for some guidance :-)

[1] must remember it takes 'ages' in a car, oops.

cant make it although i would have liked to. as i am away to fort bill tommorrw morning for one night then onto skye on saturday for a week, enjoy it hope the weather stays good for you

Hello.....sunny St. Bees here...
I'll try and make this one for the crack...not sure how much of the trip I can make though....as life just got complicated today with my mother being taken into hospital....:(
Anyway, ... if it works out...I'll try and be at a certain Bhudist place, having a bowl of soup made by a monk....in my usual seat in the corner...for 12:30 ish...

Hope to see you there, best wishes to your mother.

I have a friend who lives in St Bees.

There are some good off road trails around Langholm, they vary from smooth tracks to some a little more muddy
Track from Ewes on the A7 north of Langholm

Coming to the end of the track at Bentpath

ATV track Castle O`Er Forest

These boys use it in the summer too

Theres a track that is easily reached from Kiln Green car park in Langholm
From the car park cross over the old stone bridge at north end, and follow tarmac road passed the football pitch of your left , continue up here keep right, all the way to the Big Hoose, and follow the track left , continue passed farm buildings on your left , from here the track gets a bit rough but nothing that Anakees or Tourances cant cope with.
Follow this up through the trees and it opens out with views across to wind turbines.
At the end follow the track left down the hill passed the house and turn left and left again and back onto tarmac and follow the road across the bridge , this will bring you out at the B709, turn right and up the hill and onto Eskdalemuir :thumb2
WATCH OUT FOR WALKERS AND HORSE RIDERS :thumb2

Ive tried a bit of hard surfaced track but you can forget me going in the mud Id just go in then stay there up to my Varios in shite LOL

I was just plannng on it being a road ride but if it stays dry and everyone is up for it we could do the odd track.

If anyone else is planning on meeting up with us could you please post on here so I know to wait at the meeting point, I'd hate to bugger off and leave you if you were a couple of minutes late arriving.

I'm setting myself up for the Nob award here but what is the Wentworth Car park :nenau Pub, Shop, etc. I have a feeling that if I build up sufficient Brownie points today I should be out tomorrow....Must go loads of work/groveling to do :thumb
