Sunderland On Lune

I have just bought a book about the UK coast. Sunderland on Lune caught my interest, How often dose the causeway flood and is it covered in salt water spray? Is there a cafe or pub?
Looks like I need to make a visit to check it out, I can always nip round to Glasson for a buttie.

Im from Yorkshire but I do appreciate your Red rose countryside.
