Hi all,

Thought I would share this with you, I've been riding bikes for around 30yrs, presently own a year old Suzuki V-Strom DL1000GT, fabulous bike that ticks all the touring box's etc..... Here goes;

I bumped into a neighbour recently who pulled up on his (2005) Honda SilverWing 600cc scooter and said, "have you ever rode one of these", to which I replied "no". So I took it out for a good half hour run. I wasn't sure what to think within the first half mile, embarressed, not me. The first thing I could not get over was the power/acceleration from the SilverWing 600cc, nearly like point and shoot, very quick for a big scooter. In fact I had a ball on it. So good in fact I'm now having a re-think as to "do I really need a big touring bike"? "Do I really need gears"? The SilverWing 600cc has great luggage space, around 160 miles to tank reserve on average, just simply 'twist and go' and very quick for it being a parrallel twin engine. So simple to ride and so practical also....

Anyone else out there who rides a super-scooter and has changed/or is changing soon from the traditional big touring bike etc? Any thoughts/advice I would like to hear please......or share stories. Thank you.

Regards;

suggestion;

repost this in the beakchat and bollocks section.
wider audience and in particular should attract replies from some of the guys that have the best of both (they allege :augie)
- as they run both a super scoot and a GS. :thumb2
