Hi Just done the first 1000 miles on my new WC and I have noticed that it surges when on a constant throttle and more when in cruise control. When you have a constant throttle say at 80mph the bike slows and accelerate with no throttle movement. Has anybody else had this ?

No surging at any speed or revs .

I'm only at 550 miles waiting for the first service and noticed this too. A quick search reveals some suffer and some don’t. I notice it at low revs whether c.c. or not. I’d rather it didn’t happen but the simple fix, particularly as I got clear of one speed trap yesterday and got tugged by a different one elsewhere, to keep it in a lower gear. Sounds obvious, particularly as I believe one should get intimate with the rev limiter once the honeymoon period is over, but to keep my speed down in the 30’s I only use 2nd gear and 3rd for 40 limits, etc,. I’m having to readjust to a twin.

I was going to put a post up asking if anyone else was getting it still since there haven’t been any more posts on it for a while, but Scroot you’ve answered my question. I’ll mention at the first service next Sat and see what they say.

And BTW, I didn’t get a ticket being pulled over the w/e. It was on the A32 that has a fair bit of form along with the A272 and though I was doing 30mph it was sneaky try and capture you position. The 2 traffic guys had faces like slapped arses but the bike cop was fine. Quick look at the bike and my gear, on your way, Sir. He then came back to ask me all about the LC as he’s expecting it in the RT fleet at some point. Reckon it was the only reason I was pulled in!

I get a little of that but only in Dynamic mode and not on cruise.

Only use Enduro mode now... More fun!!

I've noticed a surging\hunting going on around 3250 and 4000 rpm. I think I automatically either drop a gear or go up a gear without thinking about it, depending on the speed limit I am supposed to be maintaining.
Failing that...I push past that rev range :D

Over on the adv forum, a lot of them are buying booster plugs to deal with this "issue". I've not noticed any surging on mine, so will continue to spend my money on petrol and trips.:D And tyres!:blast

I don't get a surge problem on mine. Except when I twist the pesky hand grip rapidly.
Should I buy the booster plugs anyway?

Are you sure it's a surge? Try enduro mode. The throttle is far too.sensitive in dynamic mode and very very small throttle movements make it feel like surging. More natural feel of enduro mode throttle makes the bike far smoother to ride imho.

The throttle is far too sensitive in dynamic mode

Hmmm. In one breath we're saying modes are rubbish and in the other dynamic is too sensitive? I seem to remember someone posting along the lines of 'just use the throttle properly'.

Dynamic mode is fine. A great way to hoon about. I do agree though, if you want steady throttle dynamic is probably not the best.

The demo bike I rode had bad surging and was almost un ridable in Dyno mode due to a very quick on off throttle response. I mentioned to the dealer who indicated I'd get used to the quick response, which was a bullshit answer. I still took the plunge and purchased and lucky for me my bike is good in all modes. The fueling isn't perfect , quite jerky in throttle over run , say when you are off throttle going down hill, but compared to my Multi Strada very good.

I have owned several BM's that have had some fuelling issues, the worse by far was my R11 s. The fueling always seemed worse in hot weather , bike would run way to lean and with the O2 shutting fuel on and Off would make the bike run very lumpy on a constant throttle setting.

Its not specifically dynamic mode as I have noticed it in Road mode.
However its not a big deal as most of the time I'm opening and closing the throttle enough for it not be much of an issue. :D

Dynamic is not too sensitive - you soon get used to it.

Cheers

Cheers for the comments guy's, off to the stealer to have a whinge.

Dynamic mode is for on off throttle (hooning) it's awful if you want to ride smoothly imho. Designed for sportsbike riders who are fast in a straight line:augie

It's all in yer wrist. I never really take mine out of dynamic whether it's dry, I'm two up or it's wet. It's called good throttle control ... :augie

I also ride in Dynamic, but don't think the issue is in the wrist for all riders. I believe that the test bike I rode could not be ridden smoothly due to the throttle action. Even the dynamic mode on mine which I ride in most of the time is a little to direct. I'd prefer the action slightly slower. I also ride in the hard suspension setting a lot of the time which is the default for Dynamic just seems to suit me.

I've always considered a dimmer switch to have more control than a standard on off switch :blast

I`ve now done 4000miles on mine and ride with throttle in dynamic most of the time with suspension in road mode. I find that that the shorter movement suits me fine. If you just use it every now and then you`ll never get use to it. Leave it in Dynamic for 2 weeks and you`ll wonder what the problem was.
My only little niggle is that if you leave it in dynamic the natural default if switching off is Hard suspension which I find a bit stiff for bumpy Welsh type roads. You have to reset to road mode on start up or on the fly.
Soft setting does not have enough rebound control but then the bike is over sprung for one up riding.
Regardless of what people say this is a good bike.
My pennies worth.........

Have you got your Enduro Pro plug in? Thought if you have it remembers your settings:nenau
