Surrey and Hants lanes Sunday April 5th 2009

Hi guys, can you tell me why this trip is not suitable for gsa owners. Im up for giving anything a go. Do you ride mostly green lanes, deep mud and the such. I could be up for this depending on work.

Hi Horse, I've done this route with Jarv before on a GS so it is doable - some pretty awful deep muddy ruts in places that I struggled in but I got around - albeit a bit, ok, a lot, slower than the pogos. Give it a shot :thumb2

Can you suggest a few lanes to practice on?

Hi

I have a 1989 R100GS and I live close to your start point in Aldershot. I dont have any off road experience but I would like to give it a go. Can you recommend any green lanes I can practice on around here? The places I have thought to try are MoD land and they dont allow Motorcycles.

Get a copy of the Guildford & Farnham Explorer OS map No. 145. There's loads of byways marked on the map and most of the are pretty good starter lanes.

Enjoy.... ;-)

Update....

Guys,

as I've been in South Africa for the last two weekends Desert Rat (Simon T) and Wreford went out yesterday to reccie the route for us... Thanks guys

It sounds like they had a good time but did report very difficult going in places. Also the feedback is that it's going to be a long day....:D

Let's head for a 10:00 sharp kick-off and will aim to get you back to Ash no later than 4.00pm. There are plenty of breakout places if you need to head off earlier. We have a few miles to do on the road at the beginning to get to the first lane but we end up very close to Ash with the last 8 or so lanes.

For those who have not ridden we us before I just want to give you a heads up that some of these lanes are very technical; I will try to work out bypasses where possible but come prepared for a good workout

If you are intending to come and your name is not below please confirm by reply; so far I know that the following are coming:

Me...
Desert Rat (Simon Titterton)
Sqandron Leader (Phil Reynolds)
Dave Emsley

For anyone that wants to arrive early for a 9:00am kick off I will run a few local lanes and be back in Ash for 10:00am to pick up the others and head off.

thanks

Jarv

You're going to have a good time - Jarv has some graet lanes planned

Expect rocks, mud, sand, chalk, steps and roots - The rides got them all

Simon giving it some on the sand and the chalk during yesterdays reccie

OK, so that's 7 of us... I would like to limit to no more than 8 otherwise it will take us for ever to get round.

Who's up for the 9:00am pre-run?
