Surrey and Hants lanes Sunday April 5th 2009

well here we go with one finger typing. a&e 5 hours sunday, private health doctor/surgeon monday. the list is: metacarpel bone in left thumb broken 2 places, carpometacarpel joint 'splintered', 3 ribs cracked, eye dialated pupil (not opening/closing in light change)
however, this not the real issue, nor the fact my mates not only let me ride without clutch nor back brake for miles and miles and even took me around farnham one way system.... twice.... no... the real issue was 'the cause'..!
now obviously rider error is out!
so having time to contemplate in 'post op' yesterday i have thought this through logically and have come up with the likely cause.
the bike was 'imbalanced'..... for 3 reasons:
1) i have lost 35lbs since january
2) i towed a non starting bmuu out of a lane and upset the 'race set up...'
3) my tool kit was lightened at the road side to the tune of 2 gas bottles and a 10mm combo spanner.....
so thats it....logically explained

thanks for the half day ride, good company, good lanes, want to come back for a third attempt at a full day!

doc said as i had 'meccano' fitted i will be out of plaster in 6 weeks so tarrenig entry is out:(

will see how it goes for Brawdy enduro in june
will not miss HUMM ..... already got my engineers working on 'special' glove for clutch hand.... initial design looks like a sex aid for a single bloke....:augie

will post bike pix after weekend and i have it out of van.

cheers!

Ah well Harv that explains it then. Not rider error at all:augie Hope you get better ASAP and look forward to seeing you back out on your bike in the near future.

Take it easy,

Phil

I am obviously Blaming the bike for my little trip to A&E too:D

Which was all the reason I needed too go out today and buy a 08 Beta 525rr 4t:D:D:D:D

Picking up on friday :bounce1:bounce1

Roy you are a twat !!!:D:D:D.......Are you coming to Llangollen ???

Just to add the list of casualties on Sunday, I have just heard from Merrick, the guy on the very loud Yamaha has sustained a cracked rib from his fall:eek: what a day eh?

I have taken further advice on my 'imbalance' theory and an emminent observer of two wheeled life states:
This would seem the most likely culprit. When you lose weight, it comes off the fattest parts of the body.
Now I have never heard anyone suggest you had a fat head - big head perhaps - but not fat head.
So it stands to reason in loosing weight from your body, you moved your centre of balance upwards towards your head.
So in a sudden very technical manouver, you now disproportionally heavy head caused you to become unbalanced........ so there you have it......my 'analyst' recognised the problem straight away- he told me I was unbalanced in the head :blast

When did he fall off? I dont remember that.

Have to say think Jarv's ride ought to come with a H+S warning in future!!

Get well soon all those who are injured.

Going up the rock steps I expect !

Yep I'm up for a June re run

Re-run dates

How about Saturday 13th or Sunday 14th June for a re-run?

Happy to run it in the same direction or in reverse for a different set of challenges ;-)

Hi Jarv,

at the risk of being ribbed - would you (or another willing volunteer) also be willing to repeat this run but at a slightly slower pace for us wannabes? :bow

........say about 2/3 of the last run with stops for a breather and pictures? :comfort

Cheers everybody

ps - I don't mind being ribbed by anybody who didn't fall off :augie

To be honest I don't get to ride the bike that often; once a month at best - a wife and two young kids see to that - so I really try to to make the most of my time on it.

However, I'd be more than happy to provide GPS logs or mark up maps for anyone who wants the route for a self-guided run at a more agreeable pace :augie You'll need OS Explorer 1:25000 maps Numbers 133 (Haslemere & Petersfield) and 145 (Guildford & Farnham). Maps available here: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/

regards

Jarv
