Suspension refresh cost and where??

I have decided to keep my 1100gs and would like to get a suspension refresh done as apposed to spending big bucks for new units, I see that a few people have had some success with ABE in Greenwich and to be honest it isn't a million miles from me ..

Is there any other places you have had GS suspension done that you can suggest? also what type of budget?. I am thinking about 150 per unit with a new spring something like a faulkner or similar does that sound like the right ball park figure??.. I also guess it will need new rods as I have never had stock suspension rebuilt that didn't need this item changing..

Sorry should add does anyone know the correct spring size for both front and rear units off hand so I can check availability with Faulkner..

I had rear shock rebuilt twice by MCT in Stowmarket (at 50 and 80k) - cost about £120 including postage each time. Last time had Hyperpro spring put on it which I had bought separately. Was told front shock could not be rebuilt but brought new one from BMW, cost about £140 (a few years ago) - easy to fit Hyperpro spring to that myself. Both still going strong at 112k.

Just had one of my 1100GS rear shocks re-built by Firefox Racing in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Not fitted it yet so can't comment on performance, but it cost £180 including uprated spring from Hyperpro. They also said they can do the front shock.

I know they're a fair way from you, but might be worth a thought.

That is not a bad price at all inc the spring as I think they are near 90 quid on their own, I have emailed Faulkner to see if they list a new spring for the GS and I have used there product on a few bikes and been very happy plus they are very well priced.. Re the front unit I seem to read conflicting information some saying they can be serviced and re sprug some saying not??

I used Firefox in Keighley in the past and the service is spot on. I will be sending my husaberg forks off to them in the near future.
They also do a posting service which might work for u.

Another big thumbs up for Firefox . They can do loads of stuff other company's wont or can't do such as the Bmw electronic units.

I had mine done by ABE,it seems to have fell on its arse today,two up with full spring preload,it only leaves me with one inch of travel before the black mudguard thingy which fits near the brake caliper(cant remember its feckin name) hits the upper mudguard on the rear subframe.I can only assume the gas has gone from the shock,leaving the spring to do all the work.
It lasted about 6000 miles.Time for a new shock me thinks with an uprated spring.
