With all of the electronic wizardry now available for the different suspension settings, is it still necessary to set the bike up outside of what is on offer i.e. rider without luggage, rider with luggage, rider with pillion etc., or should there be a setting combination that would be 'close enough' without being too specific? If so, what is the process to 'dial in' the correct preload outside of the gizmo's?

Apologies in advance if this is a 'DOH!' :blast question :D

It's neither necessary or possible to set up the suspension outside of what's on offer via the preload and damping settings. The suspension is semi-active in that it dynamically calibrates the rate and extent of delfection of the suspension and adjusts the settings to suit within the parameters of the maximum vehicle load.

Cheers Schtum. I kind of suspected as much, but a pal of mine who hasn't seen the machine yet (and knows a lot about bikes.....) insists on getting his grubby mitts on it to 'sort my suspension out', and whilst I explained that it would most likely be taken care of within the paramaters of the electronics, he wasn't having any of it.

I can happily tell him to do one now :thumb :D

Re ESA settings, it has been mentioned on here previously that a good 'standard' setting is the 'Rider + Luggage' for those of us that do not fit the standard European size, i.e. closer to 100kg than 80.
The electrics will do the rest.

Thanks for that. I will dial those settings in as they would seem more appropriate for my svelte like shape of 105kgs in a 2metre frame :D

+1 for rider plus luggage stiffer and higher which I prefer.

"delfection"? *smirks*
