What suspension settings are you guys using on the front clickers? What ever I do there doesn't seem to be much difference. :nenau

I had a grown up set mine, but this is what he did and I've not touched it since.

It will depend on a number of things but, Fat bastard on a 2019 with Xplor forks:

My 2021 enduro is bone hard even after putting everything to ‘comfort’.
I assume it’s designed by KTM to suit riding gods who charge about much quicker than myself and therefore need suspension for jumps and bumps at speed.

Has anyone had their bike fettled by a suspension guru? I’m guessing I’m going to have to revalve it and looking for a recommended firm with experience of the 690/701.

My short lived 690 was exactly the same so I’m happy it’s not a fault, just the way it is

I talked to Ktek suspension about this and they told me that that the clickers on the front suspension do sod all really and they would advise re-valving and springs at a cost of around 2k! I think I'll learn to live with it...

I’m braced for a bill but £2k is a shock. I’ve seen the tractive shocks are circa £1400 though it’s the front end that chatters. I’ll price a fork revalve only, will consider a shock after

I've had the KTech ORVS kit installed in my FE forks, which are the same units. Along with new springs front and rear + a shock rebuild, that came to £1100. Very happy with the results.

I've left the 701 alone.

Funny innit

I loved my FE350 as standard.. lovely and plush, plus it saved me more than once from a painful off when I got it wrong. I accepted the disdainful look it gave me getting me out of trouble.

The 701 though, a whole heap firmer.. too much.

And and… I sold my 350 a few days before toddling off to the Picos as I couldn’t quite cover the 701 purchase on savings alone.

On return I had my first ever HMRC rebate in the letterbox. Nice news, shite timing..

Who did yours Cookie?
Paul at Race Lab, 15 minutes down the road :)

The FE went a few steps up in spring strength, but actually feels plusher than it did on the original soft springs. I'm no expert, but I believe starting the stroke in the right place is the key?

The ORVS kit stops the forks from just locking up when hitting a series of bumps in quick succession.

The 701 has much stiffer suspension as stock. I assume because it's homologated for pillions? Still has the shitty fork action though.

before spending big money I’d fit the right weight springs for your weight/luggage and get the sag right, then see what it rides like. Fitting springs is easy and it’ll only cost you a couple of hundred quid tops

I’ve messaged FTR suspension with a view to having some work done. Not planning on selling this one, especially after it had the accessories book thrown at it by a missed ex inmate. Be an investment

I've just got a k-tech orvs kit off ebay for the Husky LR for £170. I've got a suspension guy who will install for me so will report back when fitted.

I’m off to FTR in a few weeks for the ORVS, lowering kit and set up
FTR, in the same village as me..... did umm n ahh about having mine lowered with the Husky kit then changed my mind as you lose 40mm of suspension travel, 701 was originaly 300mm of travel, then reduced to 250mm, with the lowering kit you end up with 210mm......

Yes, it’s a compromise. Problem being it’s a tall old bike for my legs and the lowering link currently fitted is another. What’s worse?

Doddery old bugger like me, lowering link and drop the forks through the yokes as far as you can.... :ROFLMAO:
Deffo be interested to see how you get on with it afterwards, its a chunk of money for sure

I found I just got used to riding tall bikes after a while. Biggest issue is clambering on and off.

If you’re up for it I can take you for a ride around this area when your bikes done, in fact we could actually pick that day for a green lane ride out that just hasn’t happened yet ?
Maybe an overnight stop for you depending where you live ….
