Hello all,

Does anybody know of a good web site which will give me a break down on how suspension settings affect your handling.

BMW riders manual not much help.

At present mine is set to Front/Rear: full hard then 2 turns towards soft. Preload: Full anticlock then 1 full turn to hard.

Cheers

Mick.

Sounds king hard..

Don't know about you mate but the way you've set the suspension up it sounds 'fecking ard'!

I suppose you are refering to an 1150/110 GS.

Sorry but you also don't say if you are solo or two-up. What do you weigh etc etc, luggage and accessories.

Now just watch this site come alive with ideas.

Leave the front standard as the books state (for 1150 GS). For the rear just alter the knob midway for solo and one line showing two-up. Concentrate on tyre pressures as these tend to have more effect than twiddling the twirly bits.

But this is just my advice to begin with.

What ever you do make small adjustments, one at a time, go for a ride and pay attention to how the bike feels over the same piece of road. More importantly its how you feel thats important, someone else's settings are not always the best for you.

Its actually a 1150R, settings are as per the riders manual. Tyres are set as per manual, I weigh 170lbs. Luggage I carry is a 30 litre back pack only ever half full, and only ride solo, not confident enough yet to put someone eles life at risk.

Cheers

my experience on the 1100 has led me to these settings.

new tyres -

front - middle preload - 28 psi tyre

rear - full preload minus two turns, damping - full clockwise minus 1/4 turn - 42 psi

works well for me

Phil
