I have recently acquired a 1999 R1150GS. As part of my post-purchase going over the machine, I'd like to set the suspension back to its standard settings.

I have the little handbook that came with the machine and it helpfully tells me that there are 5 preload settings on the front and 5 preload & a variable rebound system for the rear. But not what the standard settings are. Bum :blast

So, anyone remember what the stock settings are at all?

Cheers

Is there such a thing?
Weight of rider/pillion, luggage or not, style of riding, roads and such will all dictate the set up surely?

Basic out-of-factory standard setup? Sure there is. And I found the setting on the rear preload (and felt a fool when I did so) as its marked on the side of the adjuster.

My front shock is set to the lowest level of preload and feels good and firm. The rear is now set at very slightly firmer than standard. It was on much higher and felt too solid. We'll see how it feels tomorrow when I go out for a bimble. Didn't have time today due to seeing the new Indiana Jones fillum.

Left myself open to that reply didn't I,:)

'fraid so! I do take your point that they need to be varied to get to what's right for each rider but I want to do that from a fairly stock situation. Anyhow, have made amendments and if the rain goes away then later on I shall bimble up the A32 & A272 to see how it feels.
