Suspension woes

A bit weird as i have my 2014 GSA full size booked in with Revs 14 th of july to get the original wesa, esa shocks, Whatever they are called . and replaced by new wilbers lowered by 55m , and they are doing it for me,

Yes it is weird. I guess it's cos yours is still ok? They're 100% clear they can't do mine.

Anyhoo. It turns out that I've been a plonker. When the bike went out of warranty I thought I'd fork out on the insured extended warranty thing from BMW and this is the bit 'd overlooked: shocks under 30k are covered. Hopefully a call to the dealer tomorrow will at least get it fixed and buy me some time before I have to bite the bullet.

Must admit Im having the same issue with mine now 16k on the bike on a 14 plate an the warranty extender letter just came not sure what to do now love the bike, but the maintenance costs are a nightmare,

My suspension has locked up 3 times, solid on me a bit unnerving

If they replace the shocks under warranty does the shock warranty reset?

are the other brand shocks semi active?

Cheers,

Tom

Three times in 16k...! You're clearly really riding yours ;)
I'd guess the new parts come with their own warranty. But to be honest, I don't know. You'd need to ask the dealer.
Yes the Touratech shocks and the Wilbers WESA shocks both work with the ESA electronics just like the original BMW ones.
I reckoned I'd buy the warranty extender for the first year as I didn't have a lot of confidence the bike wouldn't throw up an expensive fault.
I guess the decision for you is the same: keep it, trade it for another, ditch it for something different. Mine's not had too many faults, so I'm keen to keep it.

When the two year warranty ends thats it, unless you take out an extended warranty then your new shock is covered until it has done 30,000mls.As a new shock is round about £1600 the extended warranty is probably worth having and cheaper than trading in.
If you paid for a new shock out of the warranty period I am not sure what sort of warranty BMW would give you on the shock.
My shock was changed at 14,000mls with 2 weeks of warranty left and as I now have a vibration in fouth gear that I am sure wont fix itself I took out the extended warranty.

cool cheers :) my wording was a bit off on that as posted on my phone autocorrect happiness haha

totally after keeping it as I've got 350 lc's an a track bike for going quick on, seems to tick the boxes bar the reliability :)

I have a 2013 LC with ESA and over a year ago I had the suspension replaced with Wilbers ESA compatible system by Revs racing. I think it's fabulous. Some of tbe bits off he original shocks were used in the new ones I believe.

Hope that helps.

Firefox Racing in Keighly in Yorkshire have just rebuilt my mates front ESA suspension for £300 quid, done a brilliant job on it, he's well pleased .

BMW are going to replace the rear under the extended warranty. I'd asked to check teh front but it somehow slipped off the list, but I'll get it checked when the rear part comes in and they do the work.
Then I don't know what to do - I might got Revs straight away and get the Wilbers fitted.
