Hi all

I need to change the suspension on the 1200 GSA as the seats a bit to high. Can anyone tell me about the stands. If I lower the susspension by 25 mm or so whats the best way to mod the stands, or am I wrong in my assumption and the stands will be OK.

Secondly, any recommendations on a good set of aftermarket suspension like Olins or alike, and a company that will supply/fit and and idea of cost. I was hoping £800 should cover the cost of new suspension.

not from ohlins it won't. something in the region of £1160

just taken delivery of a pair of wilburs from revs racing, with gsclub discount: £846

haven't had time to fit them yet, so unable to make any comparisons.

I fitted the Ohlins to my 12 in order to get my feet down, they cost £800 the pair. i did ask about fitting and setup but that took it over my buget, they wanted £1,100 supply and fit. I had the 28mm lower rear shock and had to remove 25mm from the centre stand inorder that i could get the bike onto it.
I did not bother to adjust the side stand thou, bike stands a little too uprite
so place it correctly when parking or you could come back to see the bike on the deck.

who was selling them at 800 quid? ohlins agent wanted way more when i enquired as in my earlier post.

was it the same piggy back/remote preload/ adjustable compression damping model 46 PRCQS as ohlins recommend here?

OK I telephoned John at Revs Racing and am getting a price for suspension and fitting. Anyone got any info on the stand situation and where I could get it cut down. As for the side stand how can that be sorted.

I bought mine last year (06/03/2006) from Harris Performance, front OHL-BM509 and rear OHL-BM508 £842 which included delivery and insurance.

The side stand on mine is not a problem the bike sits more upright than standard. Think of camber then decide which way to park. Centre stand is harder to use but the only time I can't get the bike on it is when it has luggage fitted.

ah, BM509 is a simpler spec. and comes up under a search for 1200GS

Spoke to Harris Performance who are now not supplying direct and got a list price of £1133 inc vat for Olins and the name of a dealer I could get them from in my local area.

I got the side stand chopped and did away with the centre stand - too much hassle!

Mine was the first 12GSA that revs fitted with lowered Wilbers - they didn't appreciate what was fully involved and took them ages hence why they may not want to do it again in a hurry!

got my wilbers fitted at the local bike garage and the machanic charged me £48 for both units which at that price wasnt worth fitting myself

OK Here's a question. If you put a standard 1200 GS seat on a 1200 Adventure how much would you need to lower the suspension on the Adventure to make the bikes exactly the same height.

try calsport they do hyperpro shocks and they can be ordered in different heights and can fit ,i have a set on my gs and they are very very good there number is 01217530415
