Denise's 125 has developed an appetite for stop and tail bulbs, the brake light is ok, but the rear light filament keeps blowing. I've tried heavy duty ones thinking it might be vibration, but that hasn't helped either. :nenau
Any ideas as to what I should be looking for?
Cheers

If it's not vibration - check the voltage after the bike's had a reasonable run. With the bike running, put a voltmeter on the battery - if the revs are held at maybe 4,000 for a few seconds; what does it go to? More than 14.2?
Could be a dodgy voltage regulator if the voltage is way too high. 13.8-14.2 is not excessive but any more could be problematic.
Another cause could be a bad earth causing a problem. Do the indicators at the rear work ok if the lights are on and the brake light is on or do you get Ford Escort rear disco lights?

Voltmeter showing 14.1ish maximum, indicators and brake light appear to work fine. :nenau

Stick an LED stop tail light bulb in

Sounds like a good idea, but I've only seen stop or tail, not stop & tail.

As in your lamp has a common earth wire

clean back a little plastic of the earth wire solder a new bit of wire to it and run it back down the frame to a good clean earth point but not a battery negative

Ta for that Jaythro! :thumb
Spliced a length of wire in from the rear light earth to the rack mounting bolt, lasted more than half an hour over the weekend. Denise has gone to work on it today, lets hope it still works!
Cheers again.
