Yes it's deffo a spares or repairs projectHaving restored 30 odd bikes over the last few years I keep looking at justifying this bike at the price but sadly I can't. It will cost £3-4000 to restore it back to its original glory and they just don't make that much money. I'd suggest selling it for parts as you'll likely get more from people restoring one & needing parts.

What was the plan with this one you`re selling, was it to do up and relive the biking days of yesteryear?Ended up with a used 550 just like yours

,I remember Motorcycle City, I test rode an RG500 and crashed it ! They weren’t best pleased !Oh dear, what a sad looking Kat...
In 1984 (i was 19) i bought my first brand new bike from Motorcycle City in Gosport - a 550 Katana that cost £1400.
The 650`s were about £1600 but that two hundred quid was quite a lot in 1984! (i did however go on to own both a 650 and an 1100).
Actually, i think it was the time that i opened my first bank account.
In those days you had to have an appointment to see the bank manager, after finalising the opening of the bank account he asked me was there anything else he could help me with that day, i said "yeah, i want to buy a new bike, can i have a £1000 loan"!

Rusty Gold....It was part of a garage clear out in Poole, Dorset along with a 400/Four, XS750 motor & wheels, various fuel tanks & mudguards and an assorted shit load of other stuff weighing about 1 ton![]()
That`s got to be the ultimate fear hasn`t it - crashing a bike on a test ride and doing the walk of shame back into the dealers to explain yourself!!,I remember Motorcycle City, I test rode an RG500 and crashed it ! They weren’t best pleased !
