Suzuki GSX1000GT

No, having had overnight to think about it, I'm going to try out the GX version before I commit to anything.
The GX is probably the better all-rounder, if that's what you heart desires.

I suffered the same dilemma when the GT, then the GX first appeared. The thought of that K5 engine in a modern package looked very attractive, but would it be a licence buster in disguise? Whatever, I've ended up with an R1250RS exclusive instead, a low mileage 2 year warranted job, with new Road 6 tyres which suit it perfectly. The attraction - cost of change, as the 1300s were incoming, as well as the quality fit & finish. Is it a keeper though - we'll see when the warranty gets close to expiry.

That’s a bit shite too . Vstrom 1050 or 800 both much better .
GX has similar issues to GT. Crap tyres and brakes

I you like the K5 engine neither the Vstrom 1050 or 800 are going to scratch the itch. Tyres are just consumables so not really relevant to a buying decision and the brakes are sorted by changing the pads. Most bikes can be improved by changing (delete as appropriate) screens, tyres, seats etc or getting a Hilltop remap, very few are 100% perfect out of the crate

You're bang on there. Most people personalise their bikes. For me it's michelin Road tyres ASAP. Brakes? Ride accordingly, and yes, change the pads if desired.
I ride all year round, this is the first winter I'll be using a chain drive bike since I don't know when, that's why I've just had a top quality one fitted to the Bandit.
