They're advice was engine bars + a pair of rocker covers from a bike that's had them replaced for cosmetic damage via insurance. I was told to get friendly with my local BM engineer.
Are the 1200 rocker covers side spesific? or will they fit either side.
Just wondering if the rider could carry one as a spare to use on either side if needed. Quite easy to change out on the trail I would assume.
But with the Motech bars fitted are you going to damage the rocker covers enough to put a hole in one of them?
Just been on the BW level one course

great fun everyone should have a go
The guy on the 1200 did drop it quite a lot (although the 12 is actualy easier to ride off road than the 650 IMO and the 12adv even easier still. But once your leant over a bit there's absolutly nothing you can do to save it because it's so heavy) and it didn't seem to do any significant damage.
I take my hat off to the guy, it was his first fling off rd and to do it on the 12 and to finnish the course without hurting himself was in my book amazing.
I jumped at the chance to ride the 12 adv on day one 'and again on day two' and was supprised how confident it felt over the 650 My real concern though, was that it's just too high and too easy to loose your ballance. Then it's on the floor and you have to pick it up

and the 650s heavy enough.
Take a bunch of mates with you to help and you'll have much more fun.
However I do now think I might invest in some Motech bars and TKC's... and an exhaust powered lifting bag... and a block n tackle... and..........
If it's fun it's got to be done!
