Just tried to fit the engine bars, but the two rear M10 bolts that go into the frame with spacers are different lengths, oneis 110mm long, as stated in the instructions, but the other is 130mm!

The instructions say they should be the same length, and the longer one's bottoming out, the two spacers are the same length.:blast

Just wondered if anyone has fitted them/ removed them recently and can remember if they should be the same length, or if the spacers should be different lengths?

Tried to contact nippy normans and motech, btut its too late in the day for a reply

cheers

MagicStu, 1150GS/2002, fitted the same SW Motech engine bars a month ago; purchased from Germany.

The long bolts (#2 on the instructions, "Hexagon Socket Screw, M10 x 110, DIN 912) that came with the kit were the same (and correct) lengths. Additionally, the long spacers (#3 on the instructions, "Spacer, Da:18, Di:10.4, h:60") were the same length too.

A note about final tightening: I may well be wrong but I reckoned that the long bolts/spacers were the crucial fitting/reference point and tightened these first. Next the hex bolts at the top (be careful reaching past the front spring that you don't round off the inner hex heads), and lastly, the bottom bolts.

Your fitting kit sounds to have been sent out to you incorrectly; not much help I'm afraid.

Take no prisoners!

Been in contact with nippy Norman. Sw motech want to know the number wrote on the bubble wrap! Like i unwrap it and iron the packaging to keep. Think i'm being fobbed off, but don't know if its by Norman or motech !!
