I'm looking for a tank bag for my GSA and like the look of the SW Motech engage Evo but i'm unsure about the use of the tank ring for the attachment. Has anyone else got one and how have you found it in practical use?

I'm looking at a similar tank bag & tank ring
Haven't used one but I know someone who has & is very impressed with it's overall function, design & use.
You need to make sure you get the correct tank ring (that secures onto the fuel tank) as there are various tank rings; the tank bag itself will need to have holes drilled into its base to fit the base ring onto the tank bag (which clips into the tank ring) but looking at a few video clips it looks straight forward.
I've found a few dealers whom I can visit & will take my current tank bag so I can ensure I can get everything in the new bag.
If you're interested in a second hand BMW GSA tank bag I have a spare that I'd be willing to sell (has been used on my 2012 GSA)
I have the givi version and it's brilliant. JJH

I have a GSA tank bag and don't use it as it is not very practical but thank you for the offer.
I bought the Motech city and fitting ring which needed to replace part of the fuel filler to connect. Good build quality but not used it in anger yet. Time will tell.
I've used my SW Motech Engage tank bag for years and love it - getting it on and off is a matter of seconds. A BMW dealer once told me that the relatively concentrated load on the tank could cause it to crack. I think this has been discussed on here and the consensus was that it is highly unlikely and possibly a ploy to get us to buy BMW bags.

I do not intend putting any real weight inside it as it is for wallet, phone, charging leads etc rather than carrying bulky items.
I have the Yamaha branded SW Motech City bag on my MT10 . Been using it this last week all over Europe and it's brilliant .
Bit more effort to fit as the base plate in the bag needed drilling as you can alter where it sits but I think it's much stronger and more secure than the Givi Tanklok equivalent that I used on Versys . You can see mine here

As said the tank ring and the bag work very ewell and you should have no concerns they are a very good bit of kit

Arsey that is the one that I have bought and drilled/fitted it yesterday. It does seem very well made and much nicer than the original bmw stuff.
The only thing I have found Redrick is the pull wire to release is quite short.

Mine is just long enough to get a finger into the loop when it press studded on ( you know what i mean) but it can always be un studded to pull
Loop a bit of paracord through the wire loop and tie it off round the carry handle at the front...easy enough to pull then.

In fact I've had a blonde moment as I didn't see the popper tag thing clipped on the front.

Happy with the fit and finish but a week in France camping will soon tell if it is practical or not. I have the BMW tank bag and don't like the way it attaches so never use it, this looks loads better. Another benefit is it fits in the top box so if I leave the bike on day runs I can lock it away.
