Sweden to Norway and back

At the moment I am doing OK actually, I get most stuff through Sweden
About my dealer:
I went ther to get oil 3 weeks ago, and he was out of oil, how can you run a bike shop and be out of oil?

When exactly are you passing through, I am located in a "village" called Skjervøy, which is off the E6 not far from Nordreisa and Storslett.

Found your 'village' on the map............not far off the E6
so may well stop by in anycase. Take a photy and send it to you.
I take it, it's a tunnel connecting to the mainland !?

There is a connection, both by bridge as well as tunnel

Too bad I am not in, but as I mentioned I am going south to pick up my new car, will propably be leaving my house in beginning of july, headed for a wedding in Bleik (a place you should see!!!) Very nice it is in Andøya....
Then heading south from there through Norway I presume
Which route are you going up by? Norway or Sweden, might see you on the road

Riding up from Haugesund - pick up the E6 at Otta
andthen head North. Probably pick up the ferry to the
Lofoten Islands on the way up and then decide which
way to head south after the Nordkapp - may take
a left turn at Alta and head into Finland (Hetta) and
into Sweden.

......so if you do happen to see a red R12S and
and a black Honda Hornet then it may be us.

went to norway last year and toured
the centrel fjord country
ive been around a bit italy switzerland
tuscany pyranees black forrest arrdenn
route napolion ect ect ect but
norway takes the buscuit it just
goes on and i think its the spectaclar waterfalls
most prevalent around june as the snows are in full melt
be warned the beers very dear but
man its well worth it just take a couple
of litres od jd in a old coke bottle job done 7 ups very reasonable over there
ive split it int three parts part one
has the gerringer fjord and waterfalls
best seen from a boat costs about a tenner ..spectacular
theres some footage of the road in
again very nice unfortunatly we s
aw a kwck intruder intrude ino the front
of coach on one of the hairpins

part two has some footage of the very
special trolestgen road thet runs from
geringer to andelnes a few snips and
snaps thrown in, and a strange encounter
with the local sheep


part three has footage from the famouse
[over there ] route 13 and a really pretty
hairpin pass near to ballestrand

i have never seen so many breathtaking
waterfalls and scenery bolted together over
such a large area ..everday was a pure pleasure
we only managed 1800 miles in two weeks cos you just have to stop so often to admire the place

top tip for gsers find the famouse flam railway
and instead of paying 60quid for the train
follow the trail alongside it into the mountain range
you can get a map with trail on from thetourist inf in flam
oh and take some food for a picknick it really is superb
r1s pans ect need not applyyoull have a graet time im sure

just one word of waring there are a lot of tunnels slow down before you go in cos they arnt big on lighting and it can cath you out
shut one eye 500yards before you go in and open it inside ..honestly

smashing place to go 20hours daylight as well

I've been touring Finmark(Norway) for the past 3 day, and can honestly reccomend this (de)tour if you have got the time, just hope the link works:

I really enjoyes the part from "Tana elv" to "Ifjord", this road is basically closed during winter.........gives you a bit the "adventure" feeling
It could easily be included as a detour as it takes you closer to an entry to Finland, but also towards the sami areas of Norway (Alta, Karasjok, and Kautokeino)

Beware of Rudolf and co.

Detour list is getting longer and longer.
Cheers though. It's marked up on our map so hopefully
we'll get to include it.

Are petrol stations open on Sundays in Finmark, or do they
have shorter opening times, or are they automatic. I'm thinking
about the road from Alta to Enonteki (Hetta). Good chance we'll
be in this area on a Sunday. If they are automatic do they
take credit card and / or cash ?

They are open on sundays , usually shorter hours though.
Most (I belive all actually) take credit cards as payment.

In Sweden however most stations do take cash as well as cards , that is you pay a fiver you get a fivers worth of gas if you pay cash.

On your way from alta to finland, you do ride through Kautokeino (sami stronghold) There is definetely a Statoil garage there. It should be open on fairly regular hours. Untill 2200 or 2300 I belive.

Bring insect repellants........

On your way up along the E6 there is a glacier called Øksfjordjøkelen in place called Øksfjord. I havent been up there myself but plan to shortly

Very nice road, and an awesome scenery.
But there aren't many official campsites along this road, one caravanpark in Tana Bru, and a small campsite in Ilfjord (with a lot of mosquitos).

Can recommend that (dead-end) road, views are great.
Just the tunnel halfway is a bit slippery...
