We had a trip to Ambleside in The Lake District last weekend. Canny ride across from Gateshead via Teesdale/Devils Bridge. Stayed at The YHA hostel at Waterhead, cracking place. It was stinking hot so we couldn’t wait to swim in the lake. I was messing on getting stuff out of my top box, completely forgot I’d put my bike keys in my swimming shorts…..thought I was f….ked. The bike would still start/run by holding the key against the designated are under the back mudguard. I dried the battery compartment out as best I could, stuck the ignition key in a box of rice overnight, and presto bike/ignition worked normally again. I didn’t have the spare plastic key with me, I thought I’d need to get recovery…..all is well that ends well etc etc

What`s the method for starting the bike when you hold the key under the mudguard?
I`ve tried it a couple of times as practice just in case but it didn`t seem to work.
When you hold the key in place does the TFT light up or do you have to do a `reach around` and press the ignition switch at the same time?

Yep, it’s a bit like trying to look like Quasimodo as you hit the ignition button

Yeah you really need someone to help you do it, it’s practically impossible by yourself.

Its easy... well i am 6'4" so its easy for me.

I tested this not long after buying the bike.

For those that don't know....
Touch key on rectangular flat spot under rear mudguard with your right hand and press the ignition button with left.
