This may be a dum question.
But I'm in the process of switching my Broadband from Talk Talk to Zen.
At the moment it is sent to my laptop via a router.
According to Zen they will take over on 13/12.
Do I / will I have to do anything to convert from one to another?
I'm not able to find anything on the Zen site.
How will I know that what is coming down my 'phone line is from Zen and not Talk Talk???

Confused,
Paul.

As Cookie says, you'll need to input your new ISP username and password into your router. The instructions for doing this would probably have come on a CD with the router, but normally consists of typing an IP address(192.168.1.1 or similar ) into your web browser's (usually Internet Explorer) address bar, which gets you into the router setup utility.

transfer from talktalk

well done you for managing to obtain a MAC code from talktalk for the transfer...I have been trying for 3 weeks without success (altho they are supposed to provide within 5 days!)

I transfered from Nildram to Zen 3 months ago ... the best thing I ever did. The switch over went without a problem - all I had to do was enter my new Zen username & password into my router and that was it.

My connection with Zen is at least twice as fast as what I got from Nildram ( both on a 8Mb package ) and so far my experience with Zen has been excellent. I've not had to call their tech support so can't comment on how that is. I hope it all goes smooth for you :beerjug:

that's very interesting as i am on nildram currently. i wouldn't have expected it to make too much difference.

what speed are you getting now?

Nildram were great where I live up until they did an LLU upgrade in my exchange. After the upgrade I had no phone line for a week, no broadband connection for two weeks and when they did resolve it, only around 5 hours of up time a day.

I spent two months on the phone with them basically pinging my router telling me it was nothing to do with them.

Before the LLU upgrade I was getting around 3 to 3.5Mb downloads on an 8Mb account. With Zen I average around 4.5 - 5 Mb on an 8 Mb connection. I was going to say that I've never lost my conneection with Zen either, but I feat that would be tempting fate... :D

first time nilly piss me off, i'm going to zen. already tempted now they've "traffic shaped" p2p ports :spitfire

otherwise, i find them fine. i get about 3.5MB on MaxADSL which seems ok with my line stats. it's actually gone up a bit (>0.5MB) since i upgraded my router firmware :)

Simon,

Getting the MAC code off TalkTalk was a pain in the @@@@.
I kept getting sent around in never ending telephony circles. To a point where TT even denied that I was an account holder!!!
Eventually out of frustration I emaled Charles Dunstone (Chairman of the Co.) directly, quoting their Code of Conduct that they had signed with Ofcom and reminding TT that they had to provide the MAC within 5 days.
I got my MAC code within 12 hours!!!!!!
