Is a stipulation of the extended warranty? Dealers cant tie you to dealer service as long as genuine parts are used and the work done by a qualified/competant mechanic.

It is a legal thing.. as long as parts used are either genuine or the equivalent and are fitted to the BMW schedule then it does not affect the warranty..

I have an account with my local BMW car dealer and they supply all my bike parts.

Good for you. The cost of what I have ordered warrantied seeking the best price and although I am usually loyal to one particular outlet, they simply couldn't match this time.

Me too. The stout guardian comes all the way from deepest Kent to get his bike serviced by them.
