sycomoto, How acurate it this?

Ive got one of them in my " when I am toooo old to ride draw" hopefully not to be assembled for a few year yet :rob

Just spotted this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-R80-G-S-1...=170620967509&ps=63&clkid=8151829716166192835

Looks very similar to the tank you just bought for Camile, though it's in the Marlboro colours. Wondered if it's the 84 bike in the 85 colours as I thought the 85 bike had an HPN tank :nenau

Val.

I don't think the Dakar bikes ever ran the poly tanks, I thinkk they were HPN in 1985, but still ally :nenau

Si has that model, he got it when he first bought camille.

Apparently the 1984 bike was actually a French team that built it, not HPN.

Yeh, That's how I understand it.

Subtle differences between the 84 and 85 tanks. The team ran two different tanks in both years. This shows when you watch the 84. Race as the bmw stripes run front to back or back to front depending on which tank they were using. I think this was because they had different capacity and on the longer stage days they would run the larger of the two etc. I guess they didn't want to carry excess fuel if the didn't have too. The 85 bikes also ran two different tanks which you'll see as both are isometrical but one has a lot bigger drop down on the right hand side. The tamiya kit shows the bike with the smaller capacity tank.
Hope that helps.:D
