I Need a brake pipe flaring tool, I've used a vice mounted sykes pickavant tool in the past but was wondering whether one of THESE would be more versatile and still give as good a flare????

Anyone got or used one?

I have not got, nor used the one you mention, but I have got and have used this one repeatedly. It's supposedly able to be used under the car, but I found it easier to just make the flare off the vehicle as it's a little unwieldy

On the plus side, it's a lot cheaper than the kit you mention, plus it can do single or double flares.

I completely re piped a mini once with one of these, would be fine to use under the car no problem at all, the handle mounts in a vice if you want, that’s what I mostly did.

Good luck,

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'm fairly set on a sykes unit be it the vice mounter 207 or the flaremaster for the simple reason the vice mounted unit produced the most consistent flares of any i've tried and is so robust it should last a lifetime.

I Know it may sound a bit OTT but hey, it's my money:D

Ebbo, that tool you have is recognised as being a great bit of kit but they stopped making them in the 80's and are now much sought after:thumb2

I used to have one of those, before someone decided that I didn't really need it!

It was an older one than that, but one of the best I've ever used, and Idone hundreds of pipes with it.

If you're going to be using it lots, well worth laing out for:thumb2

I think you'll find most of the SP stuff is made to last.
