Syncing iPod/iPhone with shared iTunes library

Is this even possible?

I have my iPhone synced on my MacBook, but most of my music is held on a MacMini devoted to serving music. The iTunes library on the MacMini is shared and visible in iTunes on the MacBook.

How do I get music from the shared library on the MacMini music server to the iPhone?
