On looking at the price of a System V + an autocom I see that they come to about the same as a Bluetoothed System V helmet.

Obviously the lack of wires is appealing and I like the idea of integrating the helmet with my BMW Navigator III sat nav, mobile phone and also listening to my iPod via bluetooth - all without wires.

I know this is all feasable with an autocom set up - the only issue I have is the sound quality and volume compared between the two sytems. Which is better, bearing in mind I'll be listening through earplugs?

Does anyone have any recomendations or experience of each of the systems?

Thanks.

Don't have bluetooth in my helmet... I think Autocom is pretty good... defo good enough for riding around on a bike...

I've heard that bluetooth doesn't do a great job at music... plenty good enough for GPS, phone, voice though...

Another issue is stereo... Is the System V bluetooth stereo?

Are BMW selling V's with bluetooth again? They were withdrawn, with promises of their return........

They are not being sold again yet.

Bluetooth gets expensive if you need to communicate with a pillon as well, to say nothing of bike to bike!
I use in-ear monitor speakers that are a revelation in terms of comfort and quality and are compatable with Autocom (but even more wires!).

If Autocom does not have a solution that works with the NavIII, then give Intaride a call.

Beemerboy,

I am looking for some comfortable in-ear speakers. What brand are you using?

thanks in advance

Beemerboy, I only found that the helmets had been withdrawn after researching the forums:blast
Blast:spitfire It's a shame sites like Cannon BMW don't keep their sites up to date and save wasting people's time.
As for Autocom's bluetooth dongle it would appear that Andy Higgins has got his to work with the Navigator III and his phone:
Just had an autocom bluetooth dongle fitted today and can connect NavIII and Mobile Phone to it. Therefore i can recieve AND make calls via NavIII screen. So far very impressed, just need to sort out volume!
Looks as if this is the way I'll go.:bounce1

Dave, if you're desperate for no wires then folks have paired the Dainese Airstream and Nolan N102 n-com to the NavIII.

Hi Paul,

I have been very happy with the Duocom in-ear speakers from www.hearingprotection.co.uk available with or without the filters (I have "without")

The after-sales service is extremely good and you can often get fitted at the local Boots store.
Others will recommend Green Leopard or other companies who attend all the bike shows. ACS were there first though!

John, thanks for the Dainese suggestion - I thought they were still only available to beta testers. At £299 with bluetooth it beats the BMW 5 - however it's not a flip - but then after 10 years of flips it might be time for a change.

I was speaking to someone at Box Hill a couple of weeks ago who was extremely happy with his flip front Nolan helmet with built in bluetooth.

Bluetooth helmets are all well and good if all you are wanting to run is a rider and pillion but as soon as you add a mobile phone or GPS the pillions will be lost.

As far as I am aware the System 5 Bluetooths are still not available and also Schuberth have stopped and recalled their BT helmets. Schuberth were helping or ran along side BMW with their helmets so I would say this shows you how unreliable BT comms are.
