The Bowden cables that link the latches to the release handle on my System 5 helmet have failed. Fortunately it was off my head at the time:)

I managed to open the helmet without damage and strip it down.

Has anyone succeeded in sourcing replacement cables? BMW predictably don't make them available.

I wouldn't mind so much if I hadn't just spent £70.00 on a new Pinlock visor for it:(

Cables

Suggest you put a Wanted thread in to see if anyone has a crash-damaged lid in their garage.

Or ask BWM Dealer if they have any bits lying around - I got a spare System 4 chinbar from Wollaston which donated its airvent assembly to my lid.

If you are really stuck why not buy some bicycle brake inner bowden cable and try to make your own, I've done it successfully in the past to replace the cables operating the tilt mechanism in car seats.

Tried it today with cycle gear change cable, too thick and rigid.

There is a company that sells a kit to repair/replace cables comes in a round tin with diferent cabels and nipples that screw on. Cannot think of the name. Begins with a V.JJH

Maybe worth shopping around, I just bought a new inner cable for my sons ATB (mountain bike) gear change from Halfords bicycle section this afternoon for £2.99 and it was very thin and flexible, I'd take a guess that it'd do the job as it was just the inner cable with end nipple attached and not a full cable, perhaps you could buy something similar and make it work ??
