My helmet was recently stolen .

To replace it I decided to buy the new System 6 helmet, and then on a whim bought the new bluetooth system for it as well.

Small problem now - I don't have any install instructions to put the gear into the helmet. (Bought it on a day trip to the UK and did not have time to have it installed - figured I'd do it myself - dealer here in Belgium does not sell the system yet and cannot seem to get me the info)

So, can anyone point me to a copy of the install instructions?

A pdf via email - mvrandery (at) gmail.com or a link?

Thanks

Mehul

I didn't think the Bluetooth was out yet for the system 6, if the part number is 76.51.7.709.665 you've got a system 5 kit and it ain't going to fit I don't think, still, never say never.

That's the part number I have! :(

The dealer says it's for a system 6, so I've asked BMW to clarify.

Are the electronics the same or is this part number for the old WCS-1 system?

I guess now I really need the instructions to install!!

Just had a chat with BMW customer services and they told me that it's not compatible as the version for the 6 helmet has some differences due to the acoustics of the helmets being different. So it's going back

So all done for now.

Ste@SSB, thanks very much for the heads-up.

Hi Richard

Welcome to the site.

Thanks for that post, but I've already got the kit. You've picked up on a 9 month old thread! ;)

It works very well and I'm much happier with it than I was with the Autocom.

One point, the prices on that link you gave me are much higher than what they are here in the UK. I paid something like £240 installed (about €270)

Sorry to come in at the tailend of this thread, but I have just bought the new system 6, and am thinking of buying the Motorrad bluetooth kit to go with it.

Does this system work well, and is it easy to use? In the brochure I have there is no indication of the internal fitting, ie the speakers, I presume they are built into the helmet. Is the quality OK, for both music and phone?

Loath to part with the £275 that the dealer wants, without getting some sort of feedback as to its practical use!

Thanks in advance anyone!

I have just invested in this, and it works well so far. It really has to be fitted by teh dealer as it involves taking the helmet apart, but it is very unobtrusive when done.

System 6 Bluetooth - volume and battery life

Can anyone tell me:

(a) the battery life of the unit when listening constantly to music via the Bluetooth

and

(b) whether the volume is sufficient.

I have a small Bluetooth receiver powered by a single AAA battery and driving a pair of EarFuze earplugs. The battery lasts about 7 hours. However, the volume is not sufficient for my needs. I've replaced this by fitting the speakers for the BMW BT unit into my System 6 helmet and connecting them (via a cable) to my Zumo 550. This works, insofar as I have (almost) adequate volume with bo battery issues but would prefer to use the BT connection - I know that it is mono on the 550.

TIA

Richard

As requested

a) 10 hrs ish

b) No earplugs Fine; with earplugs acceptable to quiet (dependent upon level of mp3 track).

Its a good kit on the whole.

Thanks.

All bets may be off though as the visor mechanism on my System 6 seems to have malfunctioned. The helmet is only 8 months old (young). Unfortunately, this is the third replacement that has failed - first replaced for a scratched inner visor, second replaced for leaking through the outer visor. I say "unfortunately" because the original purchase was made over two years ago and BMW say that the current one only attracts the warranty from the date of the original purchase. If they won't replace number 3 I'm going to look at the Shark Evoline with their BT kit.

Cheers

Richard

I hope this can be of use to you. I too was considering getting the sytem 6 (in hiviz yellow of course) and the bluetooth kit but then happened across the schuberth C3 with SRC, which is their take on a bluetooth inbuilt headset. Still want it in knock yer eyes out yellow, but its not really any cheaper than a system 6 and bluetooth so now i just dont know. Will decide on Thursday when i get a free day, have a look at both and decide on their relative merits and build quality.. I do know the System 6 is not without its faults. Cant comment on the Schuberth as I havent seen any comments either way

4th S6 helmet since 1 May 2010

Well, because my original purchase was more than two years ago BMW have, reluctantly, offered to replace S6 number 3 as a gesture of goodwill only. I bought the original on 1 May 2010 and I was in France on 1 May 2012 until 12 May and reported the fault - which occured while I was away - to them as soon as I was able to do so which was 13 May 2012.

They kindly (!) said that they would only extend the warranty if I paid 50% of the purchase price!!!!

So, when I get the replacement I'm not going to use it until I have had a very close look at the alternatives. Friends have the Shark Evoline, C3 Schuberth and Shoei Neotec. Any thoughts or views about the alternatives?

The Evoline is attractive because of its 5 year guarantee and the ability to build in a Bluetooth unit. This is what I was considering doing with the S6 until its latest failure.

If any of the alternatives fits my requirements I'm going to cut my losses and sell the S6. I imagine that I have simply been unlucky, but 4 helmets in 24 months and 12 days . . . . . . Also I have never had to replace any other helmets due to faults.

Boxed in, Not sure if there is any copyright issues, but the dealer would NOT supply this.

pm me your e-mail and I'll send a copy. It is not a job for the faint hearted.
Clean and tidy workspace needed as the screws are tiny.

Boxed-in - I've got the User manual as a pdf if that's any good. Not the install guide though. Fancy a swap? PM me an email address and I'll fire it across.:thumb2

Chris can you send me the communicator S6 installation instructions. ? I'm in the US but brought an S6 and communicator from Europe.
Thank you
Rene
